The following is an open letter to the Friends relating to one boy’s special experience at Kinder Farm Park.
My only grandchildren live in Singapore. Since both their parents love to travel, Anna and Paul have already seen more places and sites than most people see in an entire lifetime. One of the places that top their list of favorites, especially for 7-year-old Paul, is Kinder Farm Park. While the playgrounds have been great places to run off excess energy, it is the animals and the wonderful people who care for them that mean so much to him.
This past Christmas season, with the assistance of caretaker Jen Plant, Paul was at KFP to help milk and feed Gazelle, Jen’s goat, probably six different mornings during the two weeks he and his family were visiting Severna Park. Paul loves animals, but initially, always at a safe distance. On day one he was hiding behind Grandpa Dave, just watching while Jen patiently explained all about milking, feeding, and caring for Gazelle. By the last visit, Paul had Gazelle on a leash and was happily walking her back to the pasture area.
We can’t say enough wonderful things about Jen and the other animal caretakers who are part of the Kinder Farm Park Livestock Education program.
Thanks to all of you for what you do.
